Welcome to the IGC Team
IGC are proud to present the team that keep the wheels turning. Passionate, motivated and of course highly qualified and experienced.
Paul Venning
'Paul taking part in the well known
Dragon Sportive ride 2010'
My journey began in 1997. Living in Devon, the nearest class was Bristol, so I booked myself a space and traveled a 2 hour round trip. It was worth every minute and much more. The workout itself was fantastic, like nothing I had experienced before.

More than twelve years later, and here I am, with a motivated, passionate team, running IGC, with 25 bikes offering over 20 classes a week! I feel very privileged to be in the position to help others succeed. I would like to believe that I can pass a little of what I have experienced over the last 13 years over to my participants, and that indoor group cycling is there to be enjoyed. I am very privileged to have ridden with some of Europe’s top instructors throughout this time, and this has led me on to developing what I feel to be one of the most inclusive indoor group cycling programs in the UK today!

I came across Indoor Group Cycling just by chance. The plan had been to do a step class. When I arrived it had been cancelled - but indoor cycling was due in 10 minutes. Here was the dilemma! Stay or go home? I had never taken part in this class before, but heard it was a great workout. So decision made, I took a deep breath and walked in! 45 minutes later. WOW! The class was amazing. I'd had a great work out, but most of all I couldn't wait to come back!

So three years after that first class, here I am as a qualified instructor. I’m now even more passionate about indoor group cycling, because I can see how much the riders are committed to the program.

I came away from my first ever class thinking “WOW” what an amazing workout, a real challenge and so much fun! I get a buzz every time I get on the bike to coach, because I’m committed to helping others achieve their own goals. I like the way after cycling for all these years, every class is different – the music, the journey, the people – and I go away thinking the same as that first ever class!

I Played Badminton at County level in my early 20’s but now my attentions are turned to rowing Cornish Pilot Gigs for River Teign Rowing Club, Competing throughout Devon and Cornwall, and even the Isles of Scilly where the World Championships are held.

Hello, I have been a qualified fitness instructor for 21 years.

In this time I have taught many varied classes such as Aerobics, Step, Slide, Resistance, Flexibility, Legs Bums and Tums, Indoor cycling and Jazz dance classes. I have also been an in house Gym instructor and run my own business teaching classes in other fitness centres and halls.

I was lucky enough to run the New York Marathon twice raising £1,500 the first time for the Mac Millen Nurses and £2,000 the second time for Cancer Research. I also raised £500 for The Sue Rider
Hospice when I cycled 176 miles in two days from Cheltenham to Croyde in North Devon.

Then due to an injury of a growth plate near my right hip while I was a young dancer, my activities slowed down, until I found that indoor group cycling was about all I was able to teach and do in the way of exercise due to the lack of impact on the joints.

Eighteen months ago I had a hip replacement. I managed to get back on the bike 6 weeks after the operation for the first time. The first few times were a real struggle but gradually things improved and now I’m refreshed and ready to start teaching again. Indoor Group Cycling has been a great way to rehabilitate my hip joint because cycling is centered on the glutes, quadriceps, hip flexors and hamstring muscles in the upper leg. Now that I’m back to fitness I intend to restart my career again and you never know, maybe run another marathon!! I hope to see you at one of our body shaping classes soon.
